Operations & Regulatory Affairs Specialist (m/f/d)
cogu. | Berlin-Adlershof | On-site | 32 hours/week | Start: as soon as possible.
About cogu.:
cogu. makes functional liquid extracts from mushrooms and botanicals, and we make them ourselves. In our own facility on the WISTA campus in Berlin-Adlershof, we formulate, extract, test and bottle everything in-house. There’s no white label and no outsourcing.
Our process is deliberately uncompromising. We use only dried fruiting bodies and extract them with ultrasound. We concentrate the extracts at low temperatures and preserve them naturally, without pasteurization or additives. Our five certified organic blends are each built around an everyday function rather than a single ingredient. We believe ingredients work best in combination, and that functions are easier for people to understand.
We will launch our extract blends at the end of 2026, followed by functional beverages in 2027. We’d rather build a community than just an online shop, because we believe people deserve to understand what they’re consuming.
About the role:
- Because we do everything in-house, we also carry the full operational and regulatory picture. That means food law, organic certification, imports from outside the EU, and alcohol tax, since we extract with ethanol.
- As our Operations & Regulatory Affairs Specialist, you’ll own this area end to end. You’ll be the main point of contact for authorities, certification bodies, suppliers and logistics partners. Our working language is English. German is the language of your external work.
What you’ll do:
- Act as the main point of contact for food control authorities, customs (Hauptzollamt), certification bodies and inspections.
- Ensure our products, labels and processes comply with German and EU food law (LMIV, NemV, health claims) and maintain our HACCP system with our food safety consultant.
- Manage organic certification (EU 2018/848) and organic imports, including TRACES NT documentation.
- Source and qualify raw material suppliers, review certificates of analysis and specifications, and manage deviations.
- Plan raw material inventory and procurement in our ERP system (Odoo).
- Coordinate imports, customs clearance and freight forwarders, as well as outbound logistics.
- Prepare, maintain and organize regulatory documentation, certificates and records.
- Monitor regulatory changes relevant to our products and translate them into practical internal processes.
- Support grant applications and funding programs, including documentation and reporting.
- Support financial and administrative processes together with our accounting partners.
What you bring:
- 2+ years of professional experience in food, beverage or food supplements, ideally in QA/regulatory or operations.
- Hands-on experience with German food control authorities (Lebensmittelüberwachung) and the inspection process.
- Solid knowledge of German and EU food law (LMIV, NemV, Health Claims Regulation).
- Experience with organic certification under EU 2018/848.
- Fluent German (C1/C2) for communication with authorities and partners.
- Fluent English, our internal working language.
- A structured, hands-on and reliable way of working.
- A proactive, self-driven mindset: you spot what needs to be done and take ownership without waiting to be asked.
- Startup spirit: you’re comfortable with change, enjoy building processes from the ground up and want to grow with the company.
Nice to have:
- Experience with grant applications or public funding programs (e.g. GRW, Forschungszulage).
- Experience with customs and alcohol tax procedures (Hauptzollamt, Steuerlager).
- Experience with TRACES NT and organic imports from outside the EU.
- Experience with production planning.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, ideally Odoo.
- Experience with bookkeeping, budgeting or working with tax advisors.
What we offer:
- €40,000–€48,000 gross per year (based on 32 hours/week), depending on experience and education.
- A 32-hour week for a healthy work-life balance.
- Real ownership: you’ll shape operations and regulatory processes from the very beginning.
- A small, hands-on team that brings together science, creativity and craft, with a direct impact on how the company is built.
- Urban Sports Club membership.
- BVG ticket for public transport.

Operations & Regulatory Affairs Specialist (m/w/d)
cogu. | Berlin-Adlershof | Vor Ort | 32 Stunden/Woche | Start: ab sofort.

Dokumentation in TRACES NT.
Was du mitbringst:
